Elvis is not dead he is just playing GAA

Who said Elvis was dead…. The people of Bundoran are not going mad. 30 Elvis’s were playing football in Gaelic Park on Saturday last. A large crowd cheered on an array of Elvis impersonators as they played on the ‘Green Green grass of home’.  They were ‘all shook up’ in their efforts to please the crowd.

In a close match in aid of Downs Syndrome Ireland, locals got into the spirit of the Elvis Festival by donning their Elvis outfits to raise a magnificent €2000.

00 for a very worthy cause. The teams were also supported on the sidelines by Elvis performers from all over Ireland and the UK who performed their favourite tunes. While  the standard of dress was exceptional and the hair and shades were fabulous it is probably lucky that Elvis was a singer because of the 30 on parade in Gaelic Park there were none that looked like they were going to be selected for the Elvis national side. There was alot of rock and rolling on the pitch and the referee was kept busy for the entire match. A pitch incursion which saw Brian Mc Eniff ( Team Manager) attack the referee and floor him in a dangerous ‘Teddy Bear’ hug and with Sean Mc Eniff having a very bad hair day both of them are lucky they were not locked up.  There may not have been a ‘jailhouse rock’ but Down Syndrome Ireland will not be marking ’ Return to sender ‘ on the cheque they will receive in the coming days which will support the local association.
